COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Momentum will prove to be key for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team in 2014-15, as the Golden Eagles look to build on a successful fifth place finish in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament with a challenging and exciting fall schedule recently released by head coach Polk Brown.

"I can't wait for the season to start up in the fall," Brown said. "Looking at the schedule, there's four tournaments we have a ton of experience and success with and I'm excited to see our team go out and compete in all our fall tournaments."

The Tech squad will make return trips to four venues during the fall, providing the Golden Eagles a competitive advantage during their five-tournament slate. With knowledge and experience at four different courses, as well as the return of every member of the 2013-14 team, Tech will look to kick off the season with bang.

"Based on how they finished in the spring, I think the girls have a lot of momentum they can carry with them heading into the fall," Brown said. "I'm excited to see what kind of work they put in over the summer and how they kick things off at Murray State."

The Golden Eagles will open the 2014-15 campaign with a two-day event from Sept. 8-9 hosted by Murray State. Tech will take part in the MSU Drake Creek Invitational in Ledbetter, Ky. for the second consecutive season after placing in a tie for fifth in the tournament last year.

"It will be fun to once again compete early with a conference opponent," Brown explained. "Murray is a great program that has experienced a lot of success recently and they put on a very enjoyable event. It's great to be able to go up against team in our league early and this event provides that opportunity."

New to the slate for the Tech team this year is a trip north to Louisville, Ky. for the Cardinal Cup. Hosted by Louisville, the two-day event which runs from Sept. 15-16, will take place at the Cardinal Club and offer the Golden Eagles a different look from a competition stand point.

"The new tournament we have on the schedule this year is Louisville's event," Brown said. "It should be an excellent test for us. Being able to go up against an ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) opponent will prove to be a good measuring stick for our program and really help us prepare for the OVC Tournament in the spring."

After a few weeks off from the links, Tech will return on Oct. 6-7 for a trip to Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and the CSU Wendy's Invitational. Hosted by Charleston Southern, Tech will look to build off last year's fifth place finish.

"We're going to Charleston Southern for the second straight year," Brown said. "We did really well there last season and we're looking forward to the opportunity to go back and compete again."

For the sixth straight season, the Golden Eagles will once again take on OVC opponent Austin Peay and the rest of the field in the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate from Oct. 13-14. Located in Clarksville, Tenn. at the Clarksville Country Club, Tech took eighth in last year's tournament, improving from the previous year despite less experience on the squad.

"We are very familiar with Austin Peay and their event," Brown explained. " We enjoy going to Clarksville and competing against a league opponent and giving ourselves a good chance to win."

Once again the Tech squad will wrap up its fall slate at the Blue Raider Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Scheduled for Oct. 20-21 and hosted by in-state rival Middle Tennessee, the Golden Eagles will look to improve over last year's ninth place finish among the 15-team field.

"We love facing in-state competition," Brown said, "especially when it is against a historic rival such as Middle Tennessee. We enjoyed this event last season and I truly believe we will find ourselves in a position to win it this year."
