JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up play at the UNF Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon, completing the final 18 holes and finishing 17th overall in the large field with a final team score of 981.
The Golden Eagles were led by Clarksville, Tenn. native, Whitney Robertson, for the second-straight day. The sophomore carded a third-round 75 to jump twenty places in the rankings and tie for 30th overall at the event. For the tournament, Robertson finished with a 233 after rounds of 80 and 78 on the first day of play.
Next among the finishers for the Tech squad was junior Megan Williamson, who tallied an 83 over the final 18 holes of the event to finish with a 247 for the week. She was followed by redshirt freshman Anna Cunningham.
The local Cookeville native rounded out the 54-hole event with an 86 on the final day, totaling 252 with first and second rounds scores of 85 and 81. Sophomore Lydia Triplett played consistent golf each day, concluding her first event of the spring with a final line of 85-85-85=255.
Haley Davidson wrapped up the participants for the Golden Eagles, shaving four strokes off her second-round score to finish with a 90 on the final day. The sophomore posted a 271 for the event.
The University of Houston captured the tournament championship, being led by individual medalist Megan Thothong, who carded a 75-74-68=217 for the three rounds of play.
Next on the docket for the Golden Eagles will be playing host to the third annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate beginning Monday, March 16 and ending on Tuesday, March 17 in Sevierville, Tenn. Play will take place at the Sevierville Golf Club.
