Golden Eagles wrap up first day of UNF Intercollegiate, to conclude play Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of play at the UNF Intercollegiate Monday afternoon, finishing the first 36 holes in 17th place in a huge field of teams from around the country.

The team combined for scores of 328 and 330 to finish at 658 for the day, just one stroke back of Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was sophomore Whitney Robertson. A native of Clarksville, Tenn., Robertson carded an 80-78=158. She tied for 50th overall in the field of over 100 golfers.

Finishing second among the Tech squad was Megan Williamson. The junior led Tech in round one with a 78 before rounding out the day with an 86 and final two-round total of 164. Just two strokes back of her teammate, redshirt freshman Anna Cunningham turned in a 166 in the second tournament of the spring. The local Cookeville native tallied rounds of 85 and 81 to tie for 85th overall.

Next among the Golden Eagle participants was sophomore Lydia Triplett. Playing in her first event of the spring, Triplett turned in a final card of 85-85=170. Fellow sophomore Haley Davidson rounded out the Tech competitors on the day, completing her day with a final score of 181 behind rounds of 87 and 94.

Tech will conclude play at the UNF Intercollegiate on Tuesday morning, kicking off the final round of action with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
