Robertson earns first career adidas® OVC Female Golfer of the Week honors

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A career performance was more than plenty for Tennessee Tech women's golfer Whitney Robertson to take home here first career adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Female Golfer of the Week honors Wednesday afternoon, as the sophomore became the third different and fourth overall Golden Eagle to capture the award this year.

Robertson tied for first overall at the Murray State Invitational over the weekend (she eventually fell to Cincinnati's Valentina Herrera in a playoff), carding an impressive 74-74-76=224 to finish the event eight-over par and clinch her second straight All-Tournament honors. She beat out 70 other golfers in the event, which included seven total OVC schools.

It marked the fifth top-five finish of the Clarksville, Tenn. native's career, including the fourth of the year and brought her scoring average down to 76.2, good enough to rank second on the tech squad and sixth in the OVC. The youngster's performance also marked her third consecutive top-10 finish, as well as her sixth of the year.

Five of Robertson's past seven rounds have finished at 75 or lower, helping push the sophomore's stroke average within spitting distance of the all-time career mark at Tennessee Tech.

Just one year after taking home OVC Championship All-Tournament honors and a place on the OVC All-Newcomer team, Robertson will look to up the ante this season when she leads the Golden Eagle into the league's championship tournament. Play will kick off on Monday, Apr. 20 and conclude Wednesday, Apr. 22 at Hampton Cove on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Owens Crossroads, Ala.
