SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Tennessee Tech women's golf team got its last taste of the links for the month of September Tuesday, wrapping up play at the Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville with a team score of 322.

The Golden Eagles finished the event in 16th place and was led by veteran player Maddi Everts. The junior carded a final-round 77 to finish in a tie for 29th overall and with a three-day score of 230.

A close grouping of Megan Williamson, Whitney Robertson, and Lydia Triplett made up the rest of the scorers for the Tech squad. A junior, Williamson tallied an 82 in her final round of the tournament, finishing with a 242 for the two-day event. Robertson, a sophomore, also finished the day with an 82, tying her classmate, Triplett, with a 245 for the event. Triplett collected an 81 on the day.

Also competing at the Cardinal Cup was Cookeville native Anna Cunningham and sophomore Haley Davidson. Cunningham turned in a 265 after three days of work while Davidson wrapped up her second event of the year with a 273.

"I think our team learned a lot at this event," head coach Polk Brown said. "This was the toughest competition on our schedule and now we get a few weeks away to correct some things and get better. I know the girls can't wait to get back out there and compete."

The Golden Eagles will get their chance to hit the links again on Monday, Oct. 6 when they head to the CSU Wendy's Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern.
