CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Battling a late start and wet course conditions, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team stayed in the hunt for its first Ohio Valley Conference title since 1990, completing round two of the OVC Championships at Dalhousie Country Club Monday afternoon.

After pacing the field with a 296 on day one, the Golden Eagles produced at a high level once again in the second round, posting a298 to sit in a tie for second place at 594 with UT Martin. SIUE jumped into first place with a 293 on the day, totaling 592 for a two-stroke lead.

Individually, it was Morehead State's Joe Muschong erupting to take over the leaderboard, firing a 4-under 68 for a 141.

For the purple and gold, Nick Sutton and Jackson Skeen were the top two ranked golfers at the end of day two, each tied for seventh among the 45 participants. A sophomore, Sutton birdied two holes on his way to a 76 and two-day total of 147. Skeen, a redshirt freshman, also delivered two birdies, securing his 147 with a 3-over 75.

Providing a veteran presence on the links for the Golden Eagles, Bracton Womack carded a 2-over 74. Tied for 11th overall with a 149, the senior turned in one birdie before registering an eagle on the final hole of the day, the par-5 18th.

Moving up into a tie for 15th, Sean Anderson enjoyed the top showing of the day for the Tech squad with a 1-over 73. The sophomore locked in four birdies in round two, including three straight from the 15th to the 17th holes.

Wrapping up the day for the Golden Eagles, Mark McDearman bounced back after a tough 89 on day one, turning in a 76 for a score of 165. The sophomore birdied two holes on the front nine and, like Womack, ended the day on a high note with an eagle on the 18th.

Round three of the OVC Championships will begin with tee times at 8:00 a.m. CT Tuesday morning. Tech will officially get its day started at 9:40 a.m., looking to secure at least a top-four finish to clinch a spot in the match-play tournament on Wednesday to determine the OVC champion.
