BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time in his career, Tennessee Tech's Chance Taylor was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Male Golfer of Week, as announced by the league Wednesday morning.

The junior opened the spring season by tying for 15th overall at the Orlando Invitational, delivering a total score of 5-over 221 while competing on the El Campeón Course at Mission Hills Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Taylor picked up his third top-20 finish of the year at the event.

The Gate City, Va. Native posted a 3-over 75 in the first round, collecting a pair of birdies and an eagle. He followed it up with a whopping six birdies as part of a 2-under 70 in round two. Wrapping up the week, Taylor delivered a 76 over the final 18 holes, making 16 pars along the way.

The top finisher for the Golden Eagles, he helped the purple and gold finish seventh in the field of 14 teams. Taylor ranks sixth in the OVC in stroke average this year, with a mark of 72.5.

With Taylor's selection as the Male Golfer of the Week, the Tennessee Tech squad has seen a Golden Eagle take home the honor in every week it has competed this year. Nick Sutton has captured the accolade three times while Bracton Womack took home the award once.
