Sutton takes home first career OVC Male Golfer of the Week honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time in his young career, Tennessee Tech's Nick Sutton collected Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Week honors Wednesday morning.

The returning sophomore tied for ninth place in a field of 93 golfers at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, firing a career-low 208 through three rounds of action. He helped the Golden Eagles secure a top-five finish in the event with 18 teams.

A native of Matthews, N.C., Sutton delivered a career-best 6-under 66 in the third and final round of action, following an impressive 68 in round two. His career-low round and 54-hole score both ranked in the top-10 best performances in program history.

Sutton shared OVC Male Golfer of the Week honors with SIUE's TJ Baker.

Next up for Sutton and the Golden Eagle men's golf team is the Grover Page Classic in Jackson, Tenn. Tech will compete Oct. 4-5 at Jackson Country Club.
