BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time in his young career, Tennessee Tech's Jackson Skeen was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Male Golfer of Week, as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.

The redshirt freshman tied for 17th at rain-shortened Twin Oaks Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon, finishing at 1-over with a two-round total of 143 while competing at the Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Mo. It marked Skeen's third top-20 showing this year.

Skeen opened play with an even-par 71 in the first round, collecting a pair of birdies. The Jonesborough, Tenn. native rattled off two more birdies over the first six holes of round two before play was halted due to rain and thunderstorms in the area, prompting a reduction of the tournament to just two rounds.

Taking home the top spot among the Golden Eagle lineup, Skeen returned to the links on Tuesday, finishing his second round with a 1-over 72 to tie for 17th among 89 golfers across 16 teams in competition.

This season, the Tech youngster ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in stroke average, boasting a mark of 72.5 over 16 rounds.

With Skeen's selection as the Male Golfer of the Week, the Tennessee Tech squad has seen a Golden Eagle take home the honor in six of the seven weeks it has competed this year. Nick Sutton has captured the accolade three times while Bracton Womack and Chance Taylor each took home the award once.
