SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – A hole-in-one by freshman Lindsay Miller was the highlight early in the day, and strong team play from the entire lineup throughout the afternoon gave the Tennessee Tech women's team the lowest score of the round and left the Golden Eagles firmly in second place at the fourth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.

The TTU Golden Eagles made up eight strokes on second-round leader Southern Miss with a 312 total in Tuesday's third round for a 936 total, but came up five shots shy of USM (931) for the team title.

Junior Whitney Robertson and sophomore Allyson Dunn each earned all-tournament honors with Top 5 finishes. Robertson placed third in the field of 74 players, closing play with a 75 Tuesday, following rounds of 78 Sunday and 77 Monday. Dunn showed steady improvement and finished fifth overall after scores of 81-77-74 for a 232 total.

Right behind was senior Maddi Everts in seventh place. Her 234 total included rounds of 77-79-78. Freshman Hollee Sadler finished in a tie for 11th place, slipping to an 85 Tuesday after pacing Tech with a 75 on Monday. She shot 80 Sunday, and put a 240 total on the leaderboard. Senior Megan Williamson completed Tech's lineup, shooting 84-84-85—253 to finish 39th.

Miller, a freshman from Nashville, aced the par 3, 165-yard 16th hole and boasted the low score among the 14 players competing as individuals in the tourney. She posted a 246 total, one of four Golden Eagle individuals in the field. That group included Haley Davidson (259/55th place), Anna Cunningham (264/62nd) and Lydia Triplett (266/63rd).

Following Southern Miss and Tech in the standings, Oakland claimed third place at 957, followed by Youngstown State (964), Austin Peay (971), UNC Greensboro (981), Florida Atlantic (985), Carson-Newman (990), Evansville (993), Western Illinois (1,006), Radford (1,015) and Tennessee State (1,066).

Emily Dixon of Youngstown State and Valentina Haupt of Southern Mississippi tied for medalist honors at 228, with Robertson third, Kayla Katterhenry of Evansville fourth, and Dunn fifth.

The next tourney on Tech's schedule is April 1-2 at the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic, to be held at Arlington Golf Course in Richmond, Ky.
