MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – There just wasn't enough daylight left for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team to complete the second round of the Blue Raider Invitational Monday, but the work the Golden Eagles put in through the first round and much of the second proved enough to put the team in great position with one day remaining.
After the first round, plus about an average of 15 holes completed in the second round among the team, the Tech squad ranked fourth in the enormous 17-team field, outpacing each of the other four Ohio Valley Conference opponents at the event.
The Golden Eagles compiled a 309 in the first round, led by sophomore Allyson Dunn, who fired off a 73 over the first 18 holes. With four holes left to play in the second round, the East Tennessee State transfer is 3-over and sits in third place overall in the field of 93 at 4-over.
Also helping Tech stay competitive among the top five, junior Whitney Robertson notched a first-round 75 and finished the day in a tie for 22nd overall. She currently sits at 11-over for the tournament. Senior Maddi Everts was nipping right at her heels, concluding her day at 12-over and in a tie for 31st.
Playing in her hometown of Murfreesboro, Tenn., senior Megan Williamson had three holes remaining in her second round, posting a first-round 79. She was tied for 51st at 16-over. Rounding out Tech's competitors for the day was true freshman Hollee Sadler who, at 21-over, sat in a tie for 75th.
Competing as an individual for the Golden Eagles, junior Lydia Triplett still had four holes left of her second round and sat in a tie for 66th overall after posting 19-over.
Round two will wrap up starting at approximately 7:30 a.m. with round three of the event set to begin at roughly 9:15 a.m.
