BRASELTON, Ga. – A historic round backed up by another very solid round put the Tennessee Tech women's golf team in position to compete Monday evening, as the Golden Eagles wrapped up the first 36 holes of the Fall Invitational located at Chateau Elan Resort.

Four Tech players combined to record the lowest round in program history over the first 18 holes of action, firing off a collective 290 to finish just two strokes above par. The team then followed up with a 294 in the second round, totaling 584 to rank in seventh place among the 13-team field.

Leading the way through the first two rounds was Chattanooga, who notched rounds of 284 and 280 for a 564 overall. Individually, Ole Miss golfer Abby Newton led the way through the first 36 holes after carding a 70-65=135.

Topping the Golden Eagles through Monday was Whitney Robertson, who posted the lowest score of her season in both rounds. The junior tallied back-to-back 71s for a 142 overall to tie for sixth in the field of 67. She posted four birdies over the first 18, recording her first 71. Robertson then parred all but  one hole through the second 18, grabbing a birdie on the par-5 15th for her second round under par.

Maddi Everts finished just two strokes back of her teammate, carding 71-73=144 to tie for 17th on the first day of play. The senior veteran totaled six total birdies while making a total of six bogeys. Overall she shot even par over the first 36 holes.

Two newcomers to the Tech program tied each other on the first day at the Fall Invitational, as Allyson Dunn and Hollee Sadler each tied for 32nd overall with total scores of 149. A transfer from East Tennessee State, Dunn tallied rounds of 74 and 75, making two birdies along the way. A true freshman, Sadler also posted rounds of 74 and 75, totaling five birdies for the day.

Senior Megan Williamson rounded out Tech participants, rebounding in round two after a tough first 18 holes. The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native carded 82-77=159 to finish the first day of action in Georgia.
