GULF SHORES, Ala. – Just one more round remains in the fall season for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team as the Golden Eagles put the finishing touches on their opening round at the UAB Fall Beach Blast Monday afternoon.

The 11-team field was led by McNeese State through the first 18 holes, with Kennedy Bodfield sitting in a tie for first place after a first-round 69. She was tied with UAB's Kayla Wilbourn. Competing at the Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club, the Golden Eagles sat in a tie for fifth place after the first day of play, combining for a 302, just eight strokes shy of McNeese State.

Junior Whitney Robertson paced play for the Tech squad, firing a 2-over 74 over the first 18 holes. She tied for 11th among the 59 competitors. Finishing just one shot back of her teammate, senior Megan Williamson tied for 17th place on day one after notching a 3-over 75.

After working for a 4-over 76 Monday afternoon, true freshman Hollee Sadler came in third among Tech's participants on the day, tying for 23rd overall. Right behind her was sophomore Allyson Dunn, who tied for 30th after carding a 77 on the first day of action. Concluding the round for the Golden Eagles was senior Maddi Everts who posted an 87.

The event's second and final round will kick off Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start in Gulf Shores, Ala.
