Golden Eagles tied for 24th among 41 teams through first round in Kiawah Island, S.C.

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed its first of three rounds in the largest golf tournament in the country Sunday afternoon, rounding out day one of play in a tie for 24th overall in the massive field of 41 teams.

The Golden Eagles combined to shoot 315 over their first round of the spring slate, tying with Boston College and falling just one stroke shy of Charleston Southern.

Leading the way through round one were newcomers Hollee Sadler and Allyson Dunn, who each sit tied for 58th in a field that contains 216 participants. A true freshman, Sadler carded a 76 while posting two birdies. Dunn, a sophomore transfer from East Tennessee State, also notched a 76, collecting three birdies.

Not far behind her teammates, Whitney Robertson concluded play Sunday afternoon with a 5-over 77, placing her in a tie for 78th place. The junior tallied one birdie while parring 13-of-18 holes.

Rounding out the scoring on the first day of spring play was junior Haley Davidson and senior Megan Williamson. Davidson finished the day with an 86 while Williamson tallied an 87, with each golfer recording a birdie.

Round two will commence on Monday morning at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort with the final round of action concluding on Tuesday.
