Elisabeth Toennessen picks up second career OVC Female Golfer of the Week honor

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second time in her career, Tennessee Tech's Elisabeth Toennessen was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Female Golfer of Week, as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.

The senior paced the Golden Eagles at the Islander Classic Monday and Tuesday, tying for seventh among 80 golfers while competing at Corpus Christi Country Club in Corpus Christi, Texas. Producing a 235, Toennessen delivered the second top-10 showing of her career.

A native of Grimstad, Norway, Toennessen got off to a great start, carding rounds of 77 and 75 on Monday to sit in the top-five of the leaderboard. She wrapped things up an 83 during Tuesday's final round, helping the Golden Eagles to a seventh-place finish among the 15 teams in competition.

With the honor, Toennessen became the first Golden Eagle to earn OVC Female Golfer of the Week accolades twice in her career since Maddi Everts picked up back-to-back honors during eh 2014-15 season.

Tech will take two weeks off from the links, competing next in Sevierville, Tenn. The Golden Eagles will play host to the 10th annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate at Sevierville Golf Club from Sunday, Mar. 12 to Tuesday, Mar. 14.
