PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed its second round of action at the Golfweek Fall Challenge Monday afternoon, circling the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley's Island, S.C. for a second time.
The Golden Eagles turned in a 306 on the day, totaling 605 for two rounds of play to rank 17th among the 20 teams in competition. Campbell continued to sit on top of the leaderboard, putting together a 277 for a 556. Austin Peay's Erica Scutt maintained her individual lead with a total of 130 after a round of 66.
Competing as an individual, freshman Kaitlyn Rand filled the top spot on the leaderboard for the Golden Eagles, ranking in a tie for 45th among 104 golfers. The rookie used a pair of birdies and 13 pars to shave two strokes from her first-round 75 for a 73 and total of 148.
Pacing the Tech effort for the second day in a row was Gittle Sciolis, carding a 77 to bring her two-day total to 149. Tied for 52nd, the senior tallied one birdie while ranking a stroke behind her teammate. Fellow senior Elisabeth Toennessen captured a 76 after a round of 74 on Sunday, totaling 150 to tie for 59th.
Junior Ainsley Simms delivered 12 pars and a pair of birdies for a 76 on the day, combining with a 75 in round one for a 151. She tied for 61st overall with one round to play. Seniors Makenzie Morton and Katrine Toennessen tied for 88th at the end of the day, both sporting scores of 158. Morton shot a 77 with a birdie while Toennessen notched two birdies on her way to an 80.
The final round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge will begin at 8:10 a.m. CT for the purple and gold as part of a shotgun start Tuesday morning.
