Golden Eagles take three events at Showdown on the Cumberland

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech track and field team wrapped up a second-place finish at Austin Peay's Showdown on the Cumberland behind three first place finishes.

Katherine Lynn continued her domination of the high jump event as she completed a jump of 5' 6" to win the event.
 
A pair of Golden Eagles in Madison Borden and Ashley Meyhew took the top spots in the shot put event. Borden won the event with a throw of 39' 3", while Meyhew followed close behind with a throw of 38' 7".
 
Haley Wennerstrom rounded out the Golden Eagles in the field events with a second place finish in the javeline event with a throw of 88' 7".
 
Ifeyinwa Eguzo turned in Tech's lone victory in the running events, as she won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.29. She also turned in a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.76.
 
In the 800-meter run Traci Jones earned a second place finish with a time of 2:20.66, while Emily Weinzetl followed up in third with a time of 2:23.55.
 
The Golden Eagles are back in action next weekend as they take part in the OVC Championship, hosted by Murray State. The two-day event begins May 6.
