COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- With events beginning at 8 o'clock, the Tennessee Tech track and field team will get an early start to the day Saturday when the Golden Eagles compete at the Tennessee State University Invitational indoor meet at the Gentry Center.

Coach Tony Cox is taking a full roster of athletes to the meet, which begins at 8 a.m. with the mile run, shot put, high jump and long jump. The event will feature a rolling schedule throughout the day,  but all other running events are expected to start at 10:30 a.m. TSU officials estimate the final event, the 4x400 relay, will start approximately 5 p.m.

A handful of Golden Eagles will be running in their first track meet for Tech, including all of the team's distance newcomers who did not participate in December when Tech visited the SIU Invitational. The list of runners making their TTU track & field debut Saturday includes Peri Winborne, Rebecca Cline, Emily Williams, Leah Bradley, Brittney Brown, Yeshi Dohrmann, Beth Miller and Megan O'Donoghue.

Four other newcomers will be in action for only the second time after seeing their first collegiate competition at SIU. They include Brittany Cotto, Elisa Tanksley, Dalis Connell and Kelli Keck.

Final sesults of the meet will be posted on TTUsports.com as soon as they become available.
