COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- With events beginning at 8 o'clock, the
Tennessee Tech track and field team will get an early start to the
day Saturday when the Golden Eagles compete at the Tennessee State
University Invitational indoor meet at the Gentry Center.
Coach Tony Cox is taking a full roster of athletes to the meet,
which begins at 8 a.m. with the mile run, shot put, high jump and
long jump. The event will feature a rolling schedule throughout the
day, but all other running events are expected to start at
10:30 a.m. TSU officials estimate the final event, the 4x400 relay,
will start approximately 5 p.m.
A handful of Golden Eagles will be running in their first track
meet for Tech, including all of the team's distance newcomers who
did not participate in December when Tech visited the SIU
Invitational. The list of runners making their TTU track &
field debut Saturday includes Peri Winborne, Rebecca
Cline, Emily Williams, Leah Bradley, Brittney
Brown, Yeshi Dohrmann,
Beth
Miller and Megan
O'Donoghue.
Four other newcomers will be in action for only the second time
after seeing their first collegiate competition at SIU. They
include Brittany Cotto,
Elisa Tanksley, Dalis Connell and
Kelli
Keck.
Final sesults of the meet will be posted on TTUsports.com as soon
as they become available.
