KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Despite a persistent, all-day rain that soaked the Tom Black Track, Tennessee Tech's women's track & field team recorded three personal-best marks Friday during the first full day of action in the Sea Ray Invitational, hosted by the University of Tennessee.

Personal marks were lowered in the 400-meter hurdles by Brittany Cotto, 1,500-meter run by Yeshi Dohrmann and 5,000-meter run by Rebecca Cline.

Junior Traci Jones earned Tech's best finish of the day, claiming seventh place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.29. Junior Emily Weinzetl was seconds behind, placing ninth in 2:30.13, while freshman Dohrmann was 13th in 2:49.30.

Junior Leah Bradley finished ninth in the 1,500-meter run, posting a time of 5:18.02 in her first run at that distance. Dohrmann ran a career-best 5:59.55 to finish 10th.

Cotto wrote a new career-best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.00, the third-fastest time in school history. It earned her a 21st place finish.

Another career-best came from Cline, who was ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:37.35.

Four first-year Golden Eagles made the rounds for the longest event of the day, the 10,000-meter run, led by freshman Peri Winborne in 40:08.22 to place seventh. Sophomore Beth Miller was eight in 40:54.34, followed by freshman Amelia McCoy in 42:19.19, and freshman Meghan O'Donoghue in 43:08.72.

In the field events, senior Katherine Lynn had the team's top showing Friday with a sixth place effort in the high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches.

Sophomore Madison Borden garnered a seventh-place finish in the discus, unleashing a toss of 127 feet, 5 inches.

Running events on Saturday for the Golden Eagles will begin at 1:20 p.m. with the distance medley relay, while field events begin at 1:30 p.m. with the long jump.
