GERMANTOWN, Tenn. – Consistency was the name of the game for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team Monday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles found themselves in fifth place among 13 teams at the Memphis Intercollegiate, trailing first-place Memphis by just 15 strokes.

Tech posted rounds of 306 and 307 for a 613 on the first day of the event, trailing third-place and Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State by just nine strokes.

The Golden Eagles received perhaps an unexpected, albeit highly impressive showing from redshirt freshman Arianna Clemmer, who, in just her third career event, fired a career-low 73 in the first round. She followed that up with a 78, putting herself in a tie for 10th place overall among the 73 participants.

Senior Lydia Triplett, sophomore Hollee Sadler and junior Allyson Dunn all followed close behind, each tying for 19th overall with scores of 154. Triplett carded rounds of 76 and 78 while Dunn reversed the role, tallying a first-round 78 before shaving two strokes off for a 76 in the second round. Sadler turned a 79 over the first 18 holes into a 75 over the second 18.

Whitney Robertson rounded out the Tech scoring effort for the day, completing day one with rounds of 84 and 78 for a 162 overall.

"The women played pretty well today under some tough conditions," head coach Polk Brown said. "They put themselves in great position for tomorrow and we're looking forward to finishing the fall season off on a strong note."
