Tech women's golf team ranks seventh after first round of OVC Championships

OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed the first round of action at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Monday afternoon, rounding out the first day of play at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove.

With the course playing at a par 72 and yardage of 6,050 yards, the Golden Eagles concluded the day in seventh place with a 316. Murray State and Eastern Kentucky shared the lead through the first 18 holes, posting totals of 286.

Tech was led by sophomore Hollee Sadler, who finished Monday tie for ninth among the 45 participants. The Golden Eagle youngster tallied a 2-over 74 in her second year participating at the OVC Championships.

Golden Eagle veterans Allyson Dunn and Whitney Robertson tied for 20th following round one, posting matching scores of 77. Senior Lydia Triplett posted an 88 while redshirt freshman Arianna Clemmer rounded out the Golden Eagle lineup with a 90.

Individually, Murray State's Linette Holmslykke and Eastern Kentucky's Elsa Moberly paced play on Monday, carding 4-under rounds of 68.

Round two of the OVC Championships is set for an 8:00 a.m. CT start.
