DADE CITY, Fla. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up the third and final round of play at the Spring Break Shootout presented by Srixon Golf at Lake Jovita Golf Club Tuesday afternoon, finishing ninth among the 13-team field in Dade City, Fla.
Georgia Southern captured the tournament title, firing an 897 overall to edge one of the event's two hosts, Southern Miss, by two strokes. Western Kentucky, which also served as a host to the event, finished fifth overall. As for the Golden Eagles, the team finished with rounds of 305, 312 and 321 for a 938.
Leading the way during the week was senior Whitney Robertson. The veteran leader tied for 24th place in the field of 76 players, posting rounds of 75, 73 and 82 for a 230. Fellow upperclassman Allyson Dunn tied for 28th following the two days of action. The junior finished with a 231 after carding scores of 73, 77 and 81 between Monday and Tuesday.
Another Tech vet ranked third among the five participating members from Cookeville, senior Lydia Triplett. She tallied a 78-81-79=238 to tie for 45th overall and edge teammate Arianna Clemmer by a single stroke. The redshirt freshman tied for 48th with scores of 79, 81 and 79 adding up to a 239.
Sophomore Hollee Sadler rounded out the Tech squad, concluding three rounds of play with an 82. She finished with a 246 overall after adding in her first two rounds of 81 and 83.
The Golden Eagles will now shift focus to the annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, the team's home event at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn. The 54-hole event will commence Sunday, Mar. 19 with single rounds to be played through Tuesday, Mar. 21.
