Golden Eagles add international flair with the addition of Marina Ruiz

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team and head coach Jim Davis have added an international flair to the 2014-15 roster with the addition of Madrid, Spain native, Marina Ruiz.

"We are very excited about adding Marina to our team," head coach Jim Davis said of his most recent addition. "She brings a skill set to the table that really impresses me. The international style is not something we've had before and it will bring a different element to our team."

Ruiz, a 6-foot-0 guard, played her basketball with Baloncesto Club Estudiantes. In 2011 and 2013, she won the Championship of Madrid.  Following the 2011 Championship, Ruiz was named the MVP of the tournament. Throughout her high school career, Ruiz averaged 17 points and five rebounds per game.

"I wanted to play in the United States and I had several options," Ruiz commented. "I chose Tech because they have a good international business and culture program so I can prepare for my future. Also the coach at TTU showed the most interest in me and that really helped me make my decision."

The Golden Eagles will start team practice in early October to begin preparing for the 2014-15 campaign.
