Tech heads to SEMO for weekend doubleheader

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team hits the road for a match up with Southeast Missouri as the team travels to Cape Girardeau for a 3:30 p.m. CST showdown.

Tech is looking to bounce back form a 79-59 loss at home to UT Martin.  Tech (5-13/2-3 OVC) was led by Candace Parson, who had 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots, while Shunice Tionne Herron added 11 points for the Golden Eagles. Hannah Goolsby finished with nine points and five assists.

Tech's match up with SEMO is the first of two on the road for the Golden Eagles.

SETTING THE STAGE
This marks the 50th match-up between the Redhawks and the Golden Eagles. Tech currently has a Six-game winning streak dating back to the 2009-10 season. Last season, Tech narrowly escaped the Redhawks at home, 63-61.

 The Redhawks come into the contest with Jasmine Robinson leading them with 11.1 points per game, adding 4.4 rebounds.  Following Robinson, three different players average around seven points. Olivia Hackmann adds 3.9 rebounds to her 7.8 points, while Allyson Bradshaw follows with 7.3 points and 2.2 boards. Erin Bollmann adds 7.2 points and 7.6 rebounds.

SEMO is looking to rebound from a 70-34 loss at Jacksonville State. The Redhawks' 34 points were a season low, and SEMO shot only 28.0% (14-for-50) throughout the game. Southeast went 4-for-15 (26.7%) from beyond the arc.

Tech is led by junior Samaria Howard with 13.8 points and 4.7 boards, while senior Candace Parson adds 12.1 points per game and adds a team-high 5.9 rebounds. 

Parson and sophomore Hannah Goolsby lead the team in minutes played with 31.7 and 30.3 minutes, respectively.  The Golden Eagles is also taking advantage of its size, out-blocking teams, 4.1-3.1.
