SETTING THE STAGE
The Golden Eagles have a 23-12 record against the Belmont Bruins since 1970, however, the Bruins are on a two-game winning streak since last season. Belmont won the first match up 62-53 in Nashville, before taking a 69-56 win in Cookeville.

Belmont has two players in double-figures this season. Frankie Joubran is averaging 12.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, in 30.2 minutes per game. Following her is Jordan Luffman-Hartsfield is averaging 11.3 points in a team-high 31 minutes.

The Bruins are riding a three-game winning streak, with a win most recently over Tennessee State. The Belmont women's basketball team dug in its heels and battled to the final seconds of regulation for its third consecutive victory last Saturday evening. The Bruins knocked off crosstown rival Tennessee State, 64-62. The win, which was the first for Belmont at Gentry Center since the 2007-08 season, improves BU to 4-4 in the OVC. Freshman Sally McCabe led the Bruins with a career and game-high 18 points. Sophomore Frankie Joubran added 14 while senior Jordyn Luffman-Hartsfield contributed 13 points. Joubran led the team in rebounds with eight. McCabe also finished with a pair of blocks.

Tennessee Tech has two players averaging in double digits, led by Samaria Howard who is averaging 14.2 points per contest.  Candace Parson adds 10.9 points per game.  She also leads the team in rebounds, grabbing 5.9 per outing.

Tech is trying to find an answer after falling to 2-7 in OVC play. Most recently, the Golden Eagles are looking to bounce back from a 64-54 loss to Morehead State. Tech shot 36 percent and MSU hit 39 percent. Both teams struggled from long distance, Tech going 2-for-10 and MSU just 2-for-12. Turnovers were 21-20, and Tech held a 40-35 lead in rebounds. Tech had solid numbers from senior T'Keyah Williams and junior Samaria Howard. Williams notched her second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, going 6-for-9 from the floor and 2-for-2 at the line. Howard led all scorers with 22 points and added nine rebounds, three assists and four steals.
