COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Continuing the road trip, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team heads to Valparaiso for the third-straight road contest on Saturday night.
Tech (1-1) has spilt it first to games, taking down Conference USA foe Florida International, 73-56, while losing at Atlantic Coast Conference member Wake Forest, 62-89.
JUCO transfer Samaria Howard has started the season very strong, dropping 17 against Florida International and 16 against Wake Forest.

SETTING THE STAGE
Last season marked the first time these two squads had ever met, with the Golden Eagles getting the advantage at home, 84-78.
Sophomore Hannah Goolsby dropped her career-best 21 points against the Crusaders last season, adding five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior T'Keyah Williams added 15 rebounds and five points, while sophomore Catherine Taylor added eight points.
All five of Valparaiso's starters last season scored in double figures, however they only got two points form their bench.
This season, Valpo is led by Dani Franklin who is averaging 12.7 points and 8.7 boards, while Abby Dean and Lexi Miller are averaging 11.3 and 10 points, respectively.
Howard leads TTU so far this season with 16.5 points, five boards and three steals a game. Goolsby follows, averaging 14 points and 2.5 boards. Senior center Candace Parson is averaging eight points and eight boards per game.
