Women's basketball game at Morehead postponed until Monday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Brigadoon appeared for just one day, every hundred years. It's beginning to feel as if the Tennessee Tech women's basketball game at Morehead State could be played in Brigadoon.

For the second time, the contest has been postponed due to the current waves of winter weather that are bringing the mid-South to a near standstill.

Originally scheduled for Wednesday night (Feb. 18), the contest was first postponed to Thursday night because of potentially unsafe travel conditions for student-athletes and fans. Now, with another blast of snow hitting the Commonwealth and Volunteer State, administrators and coaches have moved the game to Monday night (Feb. 23).

The decision to postpone was made due to snow accumulations of more than a foot in Eastern Kentucky and an ice storm which has caused dangerous driving conditions in middle Tennessee. Administrators took into consideration the safety of fans, student-athletes, coaches, officials and game operations personnel.

The contest Monday will tipoff at 4 p.m. CT.

As of Wednesday, the next action for the Golden Eagles (men's and women's teams) is Saturday in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader in Eblen Center. The women's game is scheduled to tipoff at 5:30 p.m. with the men's game at 7:30 p.m. The games will serve as the annual Senior Night, as Tech bids farewell to two women and three men who are playing their final seasons on the Golden Eagle rosters.

Tickets may be purchased online at TTUsports.com, or through the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center. The ticket office is closed Wednesday, along with the entire Tech campus, but should be open Thursday and Friday. Call (931) 372-3940 for tickets.
