Game Notes

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's basketball team finally returns home on Tuesday night for its first home game in over half a month, and just its second home game of the season. Tech will host South Alabama Tuesday night at 6 p.m. CST.

Tech has played eight games so far this season, seven of which have been on the road, and the lone home game came against nationally ranked Georgia.

The Golden Eagles are looking to bounce back from a 72-60 loss to Georgia State over the weekend. Tech outrebounded GSU, 20-18, in the second half. Eleven of the Golden Eagles 20 second-half boards were offensive, while limiting GSU to just four offensive boards. Tech converted most of those second chance opportunities, scoring 13 points that way.

Tech recorded its first double-doubles of the season as senior Candace Parson scored a team-high 18 points, adding 10 rebounds for her first of the season, and sixth of her career. Junior Samaria Howard also added a double-double grabbing a team-high and career-high 11 rebounds, while adding 14 points and three assists. Howard's double-double was the first of her career.

SETTING THE STAGE
Last season was the first time these squads ever faced each other. South Alabama got the better end of the match up in Mobile last year, winning 66-58.

The Jaguars were led by Colby Davis who tallied 14 points, Meghan Dunn added 12, and Brittany Webb added 10. Forward Ronneka Robertson pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds.

Webb and Davis are the only two of those four returning this season. Webb is averaging just 3.3 points this season, while Davis is averaging 5.3.

Senior Breanna Hall is leading the Jaguars this season with 18 points per game, adding 2.6 rebounds. Simone Potts is adding 8.7 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds.

For the Golden Eagles, Diamond Henderson put up 21 points, while returner Candace Parson added a then career-best 14 points, adding six boards and three blocks.

So far this season, Tech is led by newcomer Samaria Howard, who is averaging 14 points and 5.5 rebounds. Parson follows with 9.5 points and 5.5 boards. Sophomore Hannah Goolsby is adding nine points and 2.1 boards.

In the spirit of the season, Tennessee Tech Athletics is giving Golden Eagle Basketball season ticket holders a special treat this month -- an additional four free tickets to each of four home games in Eblen Center in December.

Fans who purchased season tickets* for the 2014-15 season will receive up to four free tickets for each of the four games simply by contacting the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center, either in person or by phone (931-372-3940). The free tickets will need to be picked up in person. This offer is not available online.

* This offer is extended to each purchase of season tickets, including multiple season tickets in a single household or group, and not each individual season ticket or seat. For example, a purchase of four season tickets for a family is considered one season ticket holder (not four individual ticket holding persons). Please call the Athletic Ticket Office if you have questions.
