COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team is proud to announce the addition of Michael Cooper as the director of basketball operations.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to work with the women’s basketball team,” said Cooper. “I am looking forward to helping the players reach their full potential. I am excited to work under Coach Davis and learn from his years of coaching experience.”

As the director of basketball operations, Cooper will help make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, including dealing with film exchange, purchasing gear, organizing travel and practice arrangements, as well as overseeing the student managers. He will also be in charge of other assigned duties as they come up.

Cooper, a Dayton, Tenn. native, graduated from Tech in 2013 with a bachelor's of science while majoring in human ecology/nutrition and dietetics. He also minored in chemistry and biology.

During his undergrad time, Cooper served as a manager for the TTU men’s basketball team. He helped maintain the uniforms, distribute practice schedules, record practice and help with the needs of the team.

Through an internship with Athletes Edge Training and Saint Thomas University in Miami, Fla., Cooper helped train college and high school basketball and football players, and many other sports. He also helped the sports performance director maintain the facility, and attended coaches meetings.

Cooper, 24, resides in Cookeville with his wife, the former Megan Blaylock.
