CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up its first match-play event of the season Monday afternoon, falling 3-2 to Western Carolina at the Oyster Shuck Match Play event in Charleston, S.C.

Competing at Charleston Municipal Golf Course, host The Citadel fell to Samford 4-1. Wofford edged Purdue Fort Wayne 3-2 while Radford earned a 3-2 victory over App State.

Senior Gittle Sciolis produced an impressive showing over WCU's Kayleigh Baker, besting her opponent 6&5 (six holes up with five to play). Freshman Chloe Griffith also picked up a win for the purple and gold, topping Catamount Kaitlyn Wingnean, 4&3.

The second round of matches, originally scheduled to follow the first round, was cancelled Monday afternoon due to inclement weather, including rain, and poor course conditions. Play is expected to continue with a final round on Tuesday.
