HOOVER, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed its fourth and fifth rounds of golf in the state of Alabama this season on Monday, finishing the first and second trips around Hoover Country Club at the UAB Hoover Invitational in Hoover, Ala.

The Golden Eagles rounded out the opening day of action eighth overall, sporting scores of 310 and 317 for a 627 overall. Austin Peay paced the field of nine teams, firing rounds of 291 and 300 to sit at 591. Samford's Gabi Nicastro led the 59 individuals in the event, posting a 68-71=139.

After leading the purple and gold in the team's first event of the season, freshman Chloe Griffith continued to guide the way for Tech on Monday, tying for 16th overall. The rookie put together scores of 76 and 77 to record a 153. She turned in 14 pars in the first round and collected a pair of birdies in her second trip around the course.

Senior Ainsley Simms and sophomore Kaydi Rhodes each tied for 25th through the opening two rounds, both delivering a 157 overall. Simms birdied two holes for a 77 in the opening round and captured one more birdie in her second round of 80. Rhodes racked up 24 pars across her 36 holes on the day, putting together scores of 78 and 79.

Reagan Stuke carded an 80 in the first round and 81 in the second, finishing the day tied for 42nd with a 161 and two birdies. Rounding out the Tech lineup, veteran Gittle Sciolis produced a 79-84=163 with three birdies.

The third and final round of the UAB Hoover Invitational will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT for the purple and gold as part of another shotgun start.
