GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed about a round-and-a-half of action at the UNCG Collegiate Monday, competing at the Grandover Resort West Course in Greensboro, N.C.
Most of the field was still completing round two when play was called for the night, with teams set to pick back up first thing Tuesday morning before heading into round three. All scores and rankings reported here are through round one.
The Golden Eagles ranked 11th among the 19 teams in contention, producing a 309 in their first trip around the course. High Point peaked at the top of the leaderboard after posting a 289. The Panthers' Anna Howerton paced the individual rankings after firing a 6-under 66.
For the purple and gold, it was a familiar duo at the top of the charts in freshman Chloe Griffith and senior Ainsley Simms. Griffith recorded two birdies on her way to a 2-over 74 to tie with Simms and her birdie for 14th overall in the field of 103 golfers.
Tying for 71st with an 80 was junior Reagan Stuke. The veteran tallied a pair of birdies in her first round. One stroke back from her teammate was Gittle Sciolis, carding an 81. The senior totaled an 81 with a birdie.
Rounding out the Tech lineup, Cookeville native Lexus Julian picked up a birdie on her way to a first-round tally of 84.
