BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It's game on for the Tennessee Tech women's basketball as the Golden Eagles will open their golden anniversary season on Sunday at UAB.

Game time from Bartow Arena in Birmingham is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday. Dylan Vazzano will provide radio duties on 106.1 The Eagle.

The Blazers finished 20-11 last season, including a 12-6 mark in Conference USA, but saw six seniors graduate from that squad. Lone senior Zakyia Weathersby, who averaged 7.5 points and 3.9 boards last year, leads the way for UAB.

Tech is 4-3 all-time against the Blazers, last facing UAB in Cookeville on Nov. 23, 2004. The Golden Eagles won the last two meetings.

The game will be the second of the season for UAB, who hosts Edward Waters (Fla.) in a Wednesday morning contest.

For fans looking into making the trip to Tech's season opener at UAB, protocols for Bartow Arena can be found at the following link.

Tech was originally scheduled to open the season at Vanderbilt on Wednesday, then travel to Chattanooga on Sunday, but both games were canceled as the schools entered COVID protocols.

The Golden Eagles will open the home slate at the Hooper Eblen Center on December 13. Season tickets are on sale and limited seating will be available in accordance to NCAA and Ohio Valley Conference protocols.
