Tech men's golf team earns 2022-23 GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award

NORMAN, Okla. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team was officially recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America for its academic achievement during the 2022-23 campaign Thursday afternoon, earning the GCAA's Outstanding Team Academic Award.

This marks the third straight year the Golden Eagles have claimed the honor, which is awarded to teams that achieve an overall 3.0 grade point average or better for the 2022-23 academic year. Tech was one of four programs from the Ohio Valley Conference recognized. Overall, 266 schools across six divisions earned a GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award.

"I'm very proud of the work these young men put into the classroom," Tech head coach Polk Brown expressed. "It can be very challenging as a student-athlete trying to juggle academics and a full year of golf, but this team has shown it is able to find a great balance between the two."

Sacred Heart (NCAA Division I), Florida Southern (NCAA Division II), EITHER Virginia Union or Kentucky State (HBCU), Carleton (NCAA Division III), South Carolina Beaufort (NAIA), Andrew (NJCAA Division I), and South Mountain (NJCAA Division II) were all named 2022-23 Academic National Champions for finishing with the top GPA in their respective divisions.

NCAA Division III – Carleton (3.78)

NJCAA Division II – South Mountain (3.55)

Established in 1958, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) is the professional organization of men's collegiate golf coaches.
