First round of NCAA Auburn Regional in the books for Tech's Skeen

AUBURN, Ala. – For the first time in over 15 years, the Tennessee Tech men's golf team was represented at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships Monday afternoon, as Jackson Skeen competed in his first round as an individual at the Auburn Regional at Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala.

The sophomore member of the Golden Eagles was the first at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament for the Tech program for the first time since TTU Sports Hall of Famer and PGA Tour Pro Scott Stallings got the call back in 2006. Skeen finished the day 6-over with a score of 78 overall, producing a pair of birdies.

The Jonesborough, Tenn. native finished the front nine at 2-over and wrapped up the first of three days of action 4-over on the back nine. Skeen made birdie on the par-3 No. 5 hole and another birdie on the par-5 No. 16.

He completed the opening 18 holes tied for 54th in the field of 75 competitors, including 10 individuals. 

Skeen is slated to kick off round two of the Auburn Regional Tuesday morning with a tee time at 9:50 a.m. CT.
