Tech men climb leaderboard after day two of Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team made moves up the leaderboard while completing the second round of its own Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate Monday afternoon at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn.

Competing on the River Course, the Golden Eagles registered a 293 on the day to move from 11th to seventh in the field of 14 teams with a 594 total score. Carson-Newman continued to lead the event, posting a 286 for a 566 overall total. North Georgia's Will Chambers led the field of 90 golfers while competing as an individual, delivering a 7-under 65 for a 133 through two rounds.

Pacing the purple and gold through the opening two rounds was rookie Anders Larson, who closed the day tied for sixth overall. The freshman locked down three birdies and a whopping 13 pars for a 1-under 71 to finish the day at 141.

Taking part as an individual, Sean Anderson finished the day tied for 19th overall after turning in one birdie for a 79 and 146 total score. Sophomore Jackson Skeen improved dramatically from round one to two, nabbing three birdies and 14 pars on his way to a 2-under 70. He tied for 23rd with a 147.

Next among the Tech participants was Chance Taylor, who turned in a pair of birdies while competing as an individual. He tied for 37th with a 74 and two-round score of 149. Tying for 56th was Bryce Beeler, tallying a 152 overall after a second-round 77 boasting four birdies.

Tying for 63rd overall was freshman Haden Maxwell, who tacked on a pair of birdies for a 75 and total of 154. Producing a total of 156 through Monday, Mark McDearman registered a two-biride 77 to tie for 68th.

Rounding out the Cookeville crew's participants, Alexander Bassel tallied a trio of birdies on his way to an 81. His two-day composite of 158 ranked him 75th overall.

Tech will kick off Tuesday's final round with a shotgun start beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT.
