BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time this season and the second time in his career, Tennessee Tech's Jackson Skeen was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Male Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league Wednesday morning. Skeen shared the honor with Little Rock's Matteo Cristoni.

The reigning OVC Freshman of the Year was spectacular during the team's season-opening Golfweek Program Challenge, tying for third overall among 76 golfers while helping the team to a tie for sixth among 13 teams.

Skeen delivered a career-low, 11-under 205 for the weekend, snagging his first All-Tournament honor of the season. It marked the sixth-lowest 54-hole score in program history. The sophomore put together a 1-under 71 in the tournament's opening round at True Blue Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

He followed it up with 4-under 68 during round two, ripping off five birdies and 12 pars to rank second overall in the field in par-4 scoring. Rounding out action on Tuesday, Skeen erupted for a career-best, 6-under 66 to lock down a top-five finish. He went the full round without a bogey, delivering six birdies along the way.

Skeen currently ranks second in the OVC in scoring average with an impressive mark of 68.3.

The Golden Eagles continue the fall schedule with a trip to Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. for the Grover Page Classic. UT Martin's event will run from Monday, Sept. 19 through Tuesday, Sept. 20.
