Zinchini receives CFPA Punter of the Week recognition

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech punter Chad Zinchini has earned national Punter of the Week honorable mention from the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) after his booming efforts last week at Wisconsin.

Named Monday as the OVC co-Special Teams Player of the Week, Zinchini averaged 50 yards on nine punts against the Badgers, including matching -- then topping -- his career-best. He launched a 64-yard kick in the second quarter that matched his career-long, then beat that in the third quarter with a 70-yard kick that he angled out of bounds inside the UW one-yard-line.

After two weeks, Zinchini leads the OVC and ranks second in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision with a 49.5 yard punting average.

Last year, Zinchini earned a spot on the OVC all-newcomer team. During the year he was chosen once by CFPA as the National Punter of the Week, and also earned honorable mention from CFPA one other time.

Zinchini will be back on the field Saturday when Tech plays at Hampton in a 5 p.m. contest.
