COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech senior punter Chad
Zinchini has added another All-America honor to his bulging resume,
this time being tabbed second-team by Beyond Sports
Network.com.
The 2013 BSN All-America team was chosen by votes from Sports
Information Directors, coaches, media, and BSN staff. Each college
had the opportunity to submit two votes. In addition to three teams
plus honorable mention, BSN also named Player of the Year winners
on offense, defense and special teams.
Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was named the
Offensive Player of the Year, while linebacker Stephon Robertson
from James Madison earned the Defensive Player of the Year honor.
The Special Teams Player of the Year is kick returner Xavier
Roberson of Southeastern Louisiana.
The Ohio Valley Conference had several players listed, including
nine first-team picks. In addition to Garappolo, BSN first-team
selections from the OVC include WR Erik Lora, TE Jeff LePak, and OG
Collin Siebert of EIU, Walter Powell of Murray State, OG Kadeem
Edwards, S Daniel Fitzpatrick and DL Anthony Bass of Tennessee
State, and PK Griffin Thomas of Jacksonville State.
Zinchini was one of three second-team picks. He led Tech and
ranked second in the nation in punting, averaging a school record
45.7 yards per kick. He was named first-team all-OVC by both the
conference and College Sports Madness.
Earlier, Zinchini was named to the College Sports Madness
All-America team.
