Hayes and Harris named to OVC All-Tournament Team

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee Tech’s Tacarra Hayes and Jala Harris have been named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Tournament Team after leading the TTU women’s basketball team to the finals of the OVC Tournament.

The Golden Eagles won their first two games of the tournament as they defeated Eastern Kentucky 81-65 and Eastern Illinois 81-72, before losing to UT Martin 82-65 in the championship game.

Hayes averaged 21 points and 9.3 rebounds and seven assists per game. Against Eastern Illinois, Hayes notched 26 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists in Tech’s overtime win.

This is the second straight season Hayes has received the honor.

Harris finished her weekend averaging 17.7 points and four rebounds per game during the OVC Tournament. She started the tournament with a 19-point performance against Eastern Kentucky and went on to post 24 points and three rebounds against EIU.

This is the first time Harris has been named to the OVC all-Tournament Team.

UT Martin’s Heather Butler and Jasmine Newsome, along with Austin Peay’s Whitney Hanley rounded out the all-Tournament Team with Butler being named the Most Valuable.
