TTU women’s basketball to take on UCLA in second round of Preseason WNIT

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- After a convincing 87-76 victory over East Tennessee State last Friday, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will look keep things rolling in the Preseason WNIT as it travels to Los Angeles to take on No. 22 UCLA Sunday, at 4 p.m.

This will be the first ever meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Bruins.

Against ETSU, Tech got some big-time performances from a pair of players in junior Kellie Cook and senior Tacarra Hayes.

Kellie Cook, who tallied a career-high 36 points, connected on 9-of-12 shots from three point land, which was just one shy from a Tennessee Tech record. Hayes, who finished just one assist shy of her 10th career double-double, added 21 points of her own, to go along with six boards.

The Bruins were led by a pair of players in Atonye Nyingifa and Rhema Gardner, in their 67-59 win over McNeese last Friday.

Nyingifa posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Gardner added a game-high 18 points.

Season tickets are on sale for the 2011-12 season and can be purchased at the Athletic Ticket Office in Eblen Center, or by calling (931) 372-3940. There is a possibility Tech could host some Preseason WNIT games. Any potential WNIT games at Tennessee Tech are not included in the 2011-12 season ticket packages and must be purchased separately.
