Golden Eagles welcome in Western Carolina Saturday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- After a rough outing at Middle Tennessee, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will look to rebound Saturday evening as it hosts a 7 p.m. contest against the Western Carolina Catamounts.

This will be the fifth meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Catamounts, with TTU owning the series edge at 3-1. Tech won the first three meetings back in the 1970s, but WCU won the last meeting 74-61 back in the 2007-08 season.

TTU is currently 2-3 on the season, including its recent loss to Middle Tennessee last Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles are led by Tacarra Hayes, who recently recorded her 10th career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds against MTSU. Hayes leads TTU in several categories including points (75), rebounds (29) and assists (22).

Junior Kellie Cook is second on the team in scoring with 57 points, with freshman Candace Parson coming in at third with 44 points.   

Western Carolina is currently 3-2 on the season, but has lost its last two games to Campbell and Coastal Carolina.

Kaila'She Menendez leads the Catamounts on offense with 61 points and she is followed closely by Rena Wakama, who has tallied 46 points. Caitlin Hollifield is WCU's leading rebounded on the season, accounting for 25 rebounds, while averaging nine points per game.
