Golden Eagles women’s basketball ranked 16th in Mid-Major Poll

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- In the most recent poll conducted by collegeinsider.com, the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team is ranked 16th in the NCAA women’s Basketball Mid-Major Top 25.

Picked to finish first in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll, Tech won its 16^th OVC conference championship last season, finishing with 23-8 overall record, while making its fourth appearance in the WNIT.

TTU is the OVC’s lone representative in the poll, with UT Martin and Eastern Illinois receiving votes. Of its upcoming opponents for the 2011-12 season, two teams are in the poll including No. 7 Middle Tennessee and No. 25 Samford. East Tennessee State, Tech’s opening opponent in the Preseason WNIT, is also receiving votes.

Tech hosts Bryan College Monday night in an exhibition contest at 7 p.m. The Golden Eagles then open their regular season at ETSU in the first round of the Preseason WNIT Nov. 11.
