COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- Looking for its initial conference win of the season, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team returns to the Hooper Eblen Center to kick off an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader against Morehead State Saturday evening.

The opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m., with the men's game slated to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.

TTU has found its conference schedule a little challenging, as it was not able to muster a win in two road games against UT Martin and SIU Edwardsville last week. In their game against the latter, the Golden Eagles managed to pull within three points on three separate occasions but it was not to be as SIUE held on for the victory.

A recent bright for Tech has come in the form of junior guard Jala Harris. Harris, who became eligible to play December 19, has been the Golden Eagles offensive spark plug of late, averaging 20.5 points per game, while shooting 58.6 percent from the field in TTU's last two games.

Senior Brittany Darling has made her presence felt in the paint during the last two games, accounting for 23 rebounds, while averaging 8.5 points per contest. Senior Tacarra Hayes, who is now 13th on the all-time scorers list at Tech, has averaged 10.5 points and 3.5 assists in conference play, as well.

The Golden Eagles have also gotten some help from a pair of sophomores in Briana Jordan and Molly Heady. Both have averaged six points in the last two games, with Heady also averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.

Morehead State (5-9, 2-0 OVC) enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak, having beaten Southeast Missouri and Austin Peay to open its OVC schedule.

A trio of Eagles has paced MSU on offense this season including Linda Dixon and Courtney Lumpkin. Dixon has served as Morehead State's long range threat as she has connected on 35 shots from three point land, while Lumpkin has averaged 12.3 points per game and has dished out a team-leading 47 helpers.

On the boards, Ashar Harris has led MSU, who has averaged 12.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. Harris has tallied six double-doubles on the season, including a 19-point, 18-rebound performance against Austin Peay.

Saturday's doubleheader will be broadcast regionally on WCTE, as well as TTU's game on Monday against Tennessee State. The games will also be streamed on the web at ovcsports.tv.
