Golden Eagles battle UT Martin in OVC Finals

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- With its win over Eastern Illinois Friday in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team has set up a rematch of last year's championship game against UT Martin.

The opening tip is set for Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

This will be the second meeting between the Golden Eagles and Skyhawks this season, with UTM winning the earlier encounter 83-61 back in December. This meeting will be the 61st meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Skyhawks, with TTU boasting a 44-16 record. In the OVC Tournament, Tech is 4-2 against UTM.

In Tech's two wins this postseason, Jala Harris and Tacarra Hayes have been the main spark plugs, combining for an average 41.5 points per game. Harris, who is averaging 21.5 points per game in the postseason, poured in 24 points against EIU, while Hayes notched her 13th career double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with nine helpers.

Molly Heady has also made an impact averaging nine points and seven rebounds during the OVC Tournament, while Brittany Darling has averaged six points and five rebounds per contest.

UT Martin defeated Murray State 101-77 in the semi-finals of the OVC Tournament. The Skyhawks were led by Heather Butler and Jaclissa Haislip who tallied 23 points each, while Jasmine Newsome posted 20 points and 11 assists.
