Golden Eagles look to bounce back against Jacksonville State

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- After a tough overtime loss to SIU Edwardsville Wednesday, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will look to get back on track Saturday as it travels to Jacksonville State.

The opening tip is set for 2 p.m., with the men's game to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.

This will be the 18th meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Gamecocks, with Tech owning the series edge at 14-3. TTU has won the last seven meetings against JSU and is 7-1 all-time when facing Jacksonville State on the road.

Currently sitting in a tie for fourth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, Tech had its four game winning streak snapped by SIUE. Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles have put together an impressive streak over the last nine games, going 6-3 in the process.

Over the last nine games, four Golden Eagles have made impacts on offense, including senior Tacarra Hayes, who has averaged 17.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game during that stretch.

Sophomore Jala Harris has averaged 12.7 points and three assists per game, while senior Brittany Darling and sophomore Molly Heady have averaged 10.3 and 9.6 points, respectively.

Jacksonville State (4-19, 1-9 OVC) is currently sitting in last place in the OVC standings, with its only conference win coming against Austin Peay. The Gamecocks are currently on a four-game losing streak that includes a 65-59 loss to Tech back on Jan. 23.

Briana Morrow is leading the Gamecocks in scoring this season, averaging 11.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while Danielle Vaughn is averaging 10.2 points, and a team-leading nine rebounds per game.
