Golden Eagles head to Samford Saturday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- Having put one in the win column against a former Ohio Valley Conference foe last Wednesday, the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team will look to keep that trend going as it takes on the Samford Bulldogs Saturday, at 2 p.m.

This will be the 14th meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Bulldogs, with Tech owning the series edge at 7-6. Samford won the previous meeting against Tech 71-60 back in the 2007-08 season.

With its recent win over Western Kentucky, TTU improved to 3-6 on the season and ended a four-game losing streak. Senior Tacarra Hayes, who leads the team in scoring with 144 points, tallied a season-high 30 points while shooting 14-of-15 from the line against the Lady Toppers.

Samford enters the weekend the owner of a 4-4 record, including a pair of wins against Jacksonville State and Southeast Missouri. The Bulldogs are currently on a two-game losing streak, having lost to UNC Greensboro and Elon.

Paige Anderson has paced the Samford offense, averaging 11 points per game, while Hannah Dawson has averaged a team-high 4.3 rebounds per game.

Season tickets are on sale for the 2011-12 season and can be purchased at the Athletic Ticket Office in Eblen Center, or by calling (931) 372-3940.
