Golden Eagles return home Wednesday as they host the Marshall Thundering Herd

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. ---With Christmas and a long road trip to Louisiana in the books, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle women's basketball team will look to get going again Wedneday night as it host the Marshall Thundering Herd at 7 p.m.

The ticket office in Eblen Center will open at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and gates will open at 6 p.m. The night includes a special "Bring a Friend" event for members of the Hoop Troop.

This will be the sixth meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Thundering Herd, with TTU winning all five of the previous match ups. In their last meeting back in the 1985-86 season, Tech took an 81-64 victory in Eblen Center.

The Golden Eagles recently wrapped up a Louisiana road trip where they went 1-1, including a 68-64 win over Louisiana Monroe before losing at Louisiana Tech, 82-64.

While in Louisiana, sophomore Molly Heady recorded 26 points and a team-leading 18 rebounds. Junior Jala Harris, a transfer from UAB, made her Golden Eagle debut, scoring 12 points against ULM and 11 points against La. Tech. Senior Tacarra Hayes continued to establish herself as one of the most explosive players in the Ohio Valley Conference, scoring 47 points.

Marshall is currently 7-3 on the season, and recently had a six-game winning streak snapped by Furman, 62-54. Shynisha Johnson leads the Thundering Herd in scoring, averaging 7.9 points per game, with Jasmine Shaw following right behind with 7.7 points per game. On the boards, Marshall is led by Erica Woods, who is averaging 7.2 rebounds per game.
