Golden Eagles wrap up action at the Black & Gold meet

NASHVILLE,Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech track and field team wrapped up its competition at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold meet on Saturday evening.

For the second straight day, junior Tiara Hymon recorded a personal-best, and earned a place in the top-10 spot in the 100m-race. The Memphis, Tenn., native, ran a 12.58 in the 100m, good enough for 10th. Junior Chelsea Mills followed in the 100m with a time of 12.95. Junior Atlanta Westbrook ran the 100m for the first time, earning a time of 13.15, while sophomore Brittany McGee ran a 13.24.

In the 800m-race, freshman Madison Stremler led the way with a time of 2:21.21. Teammate and fellow freshman Kathie O'Neill followed with a time of 2:36.38.

In the long distance event of the day, freshmen Sonel Bezuidenhout finished the 3000m-race with a time of 10:43.19, following her was fellow freshman Lera McNamara crossed the line in a time of 11:56.15.

In the Discus throw event, sophomore Jaelyn Todd hit a mark of 102-9.25. Following her was senior Ashley Lowe, who competed in her first discus event, hitting a mark of 98-8.25.

The Golden Eagles return to action in two weeks as they head to the TSU Boston/Moon Relays on April 10 and 11.
