JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech track & field
team wrapped up its weekend at the Buccaneer Invitational with
three more personal-best marks, two in distance runs and one in the
shot put.
That made a total of nine personal-best efforts at the East
Tennessee State event, including one school record that fell Friday
in the triple jump by Chelsea Mills.
On Saturday, freshmen Anna Cooper and Baylee Balgemann bettered
their previous best times, Cooper in the 3,000-meter run and
Balgemann in the mile run. Cooper posted a time of 11:25.59 while
Balgemann’s time was 5:53.88.
Tech’s other PR came in the shot put, where Jaelyn Todd had
career toss. The shot put featured Mills competing in the event for
the first time in her career, and leading Tech with a toss of 32
feet, 9.5 inches.
Freshman Madison Stremler was the fastest of three Tech runners in
the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:23.37.
Tech had two groups entered in the 4x400 relay to end the day.
Group “A” of Atlanta Westbrook, Tiara Hymon, Stremler
and Brooklyn Kimball had a time of 4:05.37 as they continue to
creep closer to the school record in that event.
The Golden Eagles have one final meet before the Ohio Valley
Conference Indoor Championships at the end of the month. Tech runs
Friday at the Indiana University Invitational in Bloomington,
Ind.
